I wrote the prologue to this story for a writing contest in middle school (which I did not place in), and the rest of the story over the next year. I then entered the full story to be featured in a new children’s anthology edited by a friend’s father. Two years later, the story was published on Audible as well.
You can find the story in print in Volume 1, Issue 1 of Ember: A Journal of Luminous Things or you can listen to the story on Audible.
Once upon a glorious Summer day, Sylvia Star was born, and she brought with her a love of princesses, adventures, and stories. She shared those stories with the world even as a baby, telling them to her precious stuffed animals in her crib. At age eleven her dear friend McKenna introduced her to the concept of writing her stories down, and from there it began: Sylvia was going to be an Author.
She wrote a cheesy dystopian in those early days, as well as some fairy tale pieces that will not be discussed, but by age 13 she created a world she would never again be able to leave: Lopsenia.
With the help of friends and her sister, Madi, she spent the next several years expanding this world and the characters within. A sweet and silly children’s princess story evolved into a Young Adult Fantasy series never before seen, and she could not wait to share it with the world.
One problem, though: She has to actually write it. And Edit it. And then find someone to publish it, and then market it. So here she is, creating a website to begin her engagement with literary society as a Writer.
She is taking a break from Lopsenia for the moment, overwhelmed by the idea of tackling it with a newborn baby in her home (Sweet Prince Fletcher) and distracted by another idea, another fantasy series but this one in a world she is creating based on her love of history, specifically her love of the 1930s and 40s.
So come along and follow her journey as she develops The Tirastir Chronicles, the Star Series, and whatever other ideas come to her mind. Soon enough, you’ll see her send one off for publication.
